April 21st

Well, I must say that Rated R’s debut show was fucking awesome!!!!  I lost half my money, but oh well such is life.  The fun of the night made up for any and all losses.  So much so that I am currently planning on the next show to be on September 18th, yet again at the Inferno in Parkersburg, WV!!!

The show went on without a hitch.  The talent was great, the matches were solid, everyone in the back was happy, and most importantly the fans fucking loved the show!!!!  If you missed it, you missed one helluva good show.  I am hoping that the next show is just as good if not better, and I can honestly say that my money is on the next show being better.

Once the videos from the show are ready and uploaded you will be able to watch them right here on my site. There is also a myspace being made up for Rated R Wrestling and once that is complete the link will be provided for you to check. It should be ready by the end of this week!  Personally, I think the best match was Vance Desmond vs. Cole Cash.  That is one that you definitely will want to check out!!!!

Results for Rated R Wrestling:
Match 1
Alex Arcadian
vs
DB Thunder
(Alex won the match via pinfall.)

Match 2
Evan 'The Show' Daniels
vs
Ricky Lee Stonerock
vs
Jimmy Nutts
vs
Iceman
(This was a great elimination match with some promising up and comers! Jimmy Nutts was the first to be eliminated, then Evan Daniels, and Ricky Lee Stonerock won by pinning Iceman.)

Match 3
TV Casualities
vs
Jock & Otto
(Fantastic match between two great teams. Jock and Otto beat TV Casualties.)

Match 4
Mary Elizabeth Monroe
vs
Stacy Hunter
(First off, it should be noted, that Mary Elizabeth was a spectacular female wrestler and many were impressed with her. However, it didn't really help when Chris Cruit got involved and caused Stacy Hunter to catch Mary off gaurd for a pin. This enraged Deven Michaels, who was watching nearby. He made sure that Mary got her revenge on the referee too. After she taught the ref a lesson, Deven challenged Cruit to a street fight.)

Match 5
Chris Cruit
vs
Deven Michaels
(These two jumped right at each other after the challenge was issued and there was no stopping them. Mary and Stacy both watched from the sidelines while these two beat the ever living crap out of each other. A chair was slammed into Deven's head, Cruit was beat mercilessly with a belt, a drink was thrown in Deven's face as well as baby powder. It was Mary that really got her revenge once again. Deven, being blinded, accidentally grabbed the special guest referee and suplexed him. While both were out, Mary stormed the ring and got Cruit with a nut shot. Deven got up as she slid out of the ring and DDT'ed Cruit for a pin.)

Match 6
Cole Cash
vs
Vance Desmond
(The brutality of this match cannot be expressed into words, but I'll give it a try. These two Parkersburg residents were out to prove who really was the best of Parkersburg. It was a last man standing match and the chair shots and fists were flying. These two definitely put on a no holds barred fight. At the end of the day, Vance ended up being the toughest Parkersburg has to offer. His vicious kicks finally got the best of Cash and special guest referee Randall counted to 10. Main event was a heartstopping event with these two!)

For everyone that was a part of the show I just want to say thank you for making the show as much fun and successful as it was.  I am looking forward to working with all of you again on the next show.  Each of you did a fantastic job.  I would also like to thank the Inferno and Ashen 18 for helping me to put on such a great event.  I can’t express enough how great of a time I had and I just want to say thank you to everyone that was involved in the night.  Thank you, very much!!!!!!

I am sure that most of you remember me rambling on about the first day of trout season.  Well the first day has come and gone and it was fucking fun!!!  I had a great time with my family at the lake and Princess Jezabel had a great time.  You can find pictures of the fish I caught in the picture section and next week you will be able to find the pictures taken at the lake of my family.  Speaking of pictures, I almost have all of the captions and stories ready. Those pictures will also be added next week.

I have also recently typed up an article for my local newspaper.  One that I highly doubt they will publish, so I am going to add it to this week's installment of the truth.  I hope you enjoy it.

Until next time,

 Article to local newspaper:

After reading the article about sexting in Saturday’s edition of The Spirit, I saw many flaws in Jeff Burkett’s words and the article in general. So, I felt the need to rebuttal the argument.  Teenagers engaging in sexting should concern parents, there is no disputing that fact.  In fact, teenagers engaging in any sexual behavior should concern parents.

The thing of it is though, it should concern parents before the teens are engaging in sexual behavior not after.  If parents truly did their job as parents, they would not have to worry as much about what their teens are doing.  That being said, let's face facts, teens are going to engage in sexual behavior regardless at some point or another.  I myself was 16 when I lost my virginity and I am sure that the majority of people reading this were in their teens when they lost their virginity as well.

Now, back to sexting.  I personally believe that a law stating what can and can’t be texted is going against the first amendment of the constitution.  We should all use common sense when texting, emailing, taking pictures, writing a letter, or for that matter talking in general.  I do not want a district attorney telling me what I can and can’t text to my friends or family.  As an adult, if I want to send an explicit picture or message to another adult I should be permitted to do so.

Key words being 'adult'.  Minors should not be exposed to explicit material from adults, but from minor to minor that is a different story.  The article in The Spirit does not make it 100% clear if Jeff Burkett has an issue with adults sexting.  I understand that there is a difference between adults and minors, but new laws are not the way to help.  Parents actually being parents is what is needed to help teens.

In the article Mr. Burkett compares sex messages to Polaroid pictures. According to him, people had full control over who saw Polaroid pictures and when they were destroyed.  If that was true, there wouldn’t have ever been pictures accidentally showing up in newspapers and magazines.  There was no more control over Polaroid pictures than there is sex messages.  You may think that there is; however, it was very easy for the wrong person to steal the Polaroid pictures and distribute all over the place and for the world to see.

Perhaps Mr. Burkett should be more concerned with digital pictures, which are untraceable and can be printed off and shared in the comfort of one's own home.  Oh wait, that is right, if they are printed we have full control of them and they can never get into the wrong hands.  Oops, I forgot about that we have full control of printed versions.  Oh wait, I guess all of the celebrities that have had sex tapes surface had total control over the tapes.  I guess it’s a good thing that they had control so that they couldn’t leak out to the rest of the world.

Mr. Burkett is 100% correct, teenage relationships are short lived and there can be serious repercussions to the decisions a teenager makes.  Then again, at that age if you do not understand cause and effect you have a serious problems. Yet again, a lesson that parents should teach their children at an early age.  What about adults though, there is just as many short lived relationships between adults.  After all you are an adult at the age of 18.  That leaves you with two teenage years as an adult.  Mr. Burkett says, “It will just be between us, I promise that I won’t ever show it to anyone else.”

Burkett then noted that in the eyes of the law that is a lie.  Let's think about that for a second, how is that a lie.  If at the time that statement is made the person has no intent of showing the picture to anyone else it is not a lie.  It is indeed the truth.  Just as when a man tells a woman, "I will be with you until the day I die."  At the time it is said the man means those words with every fiber of his being.  Of course, according to Mr. Burkett five years later when the woman cheats on the man and he ends the relationship he lied to her all those years ago when he said they would be together until the day he died.  I am sorry, but just the fact that Mr. Burkett can believe that someone is lying just because the circumstances have changed makes me wonder if he truly is the best man to have as a district attorney.  Think outside of the box and I am sure you will understand what I mean.

In the article Burkett says, “Photos can also wind up in the hands of pornographers or child molesters, who like to share photos amongst one another. Your photo could end up with people that you never thought of.”  The odds of a pornographer wanting pictures that are texted are slim to none.  There are very strict laws governing the adult entertainment business.  A pornographer would have no use for such a picture.  In the adult industry each and every pornographer has to have on record each and every models birth certificate, photo id, and signed consent/release forms the law clearly states this in law 18 U.S.C. 2257 record-keeping requirements compliance statement.  A pornographer is not going to risk jail time and losing his/her business by possessing or using a picture that has been texted to him/her.

Child Molesters on the other hand would love to have these pictures as would most rapists.  Ironically enough, they would also love to have the JC Penney fliers that we get every week so that they can look at the pictures of children and half naked women.  They enjoy setting at the park taking pictures of kids and women as they walk by.  Mr. Burkett is stretching by trying to tap into your emotional responses using porn and child molesters as a way of tugging on your heart and most primitive feelings.  One more thing about this point, pornographers and molesters are the minority in this country, so the odds of your picture even getting to them is very slim.

The article continues with Burkett stating, “ During a period of time in the United States with high unemployment figures, employers today want more information about potential employees than ever before," "If they are going to spend good money, the better the job, the more information they require”, and "will not want employees with bad judgment". Burkett continues, "I can guarantee you this: If they do the research on you, they can find out everything about you." Burkett also stated, "and if an employer learns that a possible employee that he or she is sexting, that person is going to view you as not having good judgment.”

Since Mr. Burkett is speaking of good money and jobs he must be referring to adults here.  It is nice to know that Jeff Burkett wants to censor adults and take away our first amendment rights.  He says that employers will view people sexting as bad judgment.  I was curious so I took some time and called several very large companies human resource departments and asked a very simple question.  “If you found out that I take part in sexting with my wife and other adults friends would I be able to get a job with your company?”

Each and every person I talked to said that as long as what I do is on my personal time it does not affect my performance at work, sexting was not an issue. Then I asked, “Would you consider it a sign of bad judgment?” Several of the people I talked to said that they wouldn’t do it, but they do not consider it bad judgment.  A couple people even said that they themselves sext with their significant others.

Looks to me that Mr. Burkett assumes that since he views sexting as bad judgment so does everyone else.  Based on my research his assumption is incorrect. The article continues, “The same can be said about higher education. Today, colleges are being more selective, he said, colleges want to know as much about you as they can. If you go to their school, and you graduate, and you handle the material they give you intellectually, they know that one day, they are going to put their stamp of approval on you.”

I conducted the same experiment with several colleges.  They all said that sexting was not a concern as long as there was no college logos in the pictures.  Hmmm….  looks like two of Mr. Burkett’s arguments are completely fabricated to suit his needs.  I wonder how much other stuff he fabricates to suit his needs.

If Mr. Burkett was only focusing on minors I could understand his concerns and support some of them; however, since he is not limiting his views to minors I feel that he is trying to censor our freedom of speech.  He is absolutely right, this is something that minors should not be doing; however, adults should have the right to send any picture of themselves to any other adult that they choose.  Many of our friends and family have went to war and died to protect our freedoms, and Mr. Burkett is trying to destroy what our friends and family fought for.

Please by all means teach your children about the dangers of sex and sexting.  Just don’t let people like Mr. Burkett take away our freedom of speech.  If you would like to read more about how I feel about this subject and many others please check out

Deven Michaels
